MaryEllen O'Donohue is director of MS&L’s healthcare practice, with particular focus on strategy and innovation. She has developed and implemented strategic communications programs for top clients including Baxter Healthcare, Bayer, Eli Lilly & Company, GlaxoSmithKline, Pfizer, Pharmacia, Philips Medical Systems, Serono Lenox Hill Hospital and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Foundation.
During her more than 20 years of experience in public relations, O’Donohue has worked on a wide scope of accounts in the areas of pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and devices and diagnostics. She has also worked on an array of therapeutic areas, including CNS, HIV, oncology, pain relief and women’s health. In addition to her healthcare experience, she spent several years servicing technology accounts and brings a unique combination of skills in helping expand the market for medical technologies such as minimally-invasive coronary bypass surgical products, MRIs, CT, hand-held telemedicine devices and blood testing equipment.
As founder of the industry’s first healthcare media relations department, O’Donohue provides senior strategic media counsel to clients and has established systems within the healthcare practice that enable members to provide proactive opportunities to clients. She believes in the big idea that will actually work and end up in the news. She has maximized coverage for clients to reach Wall Street, to expand FDA advisory hearings, new drug approvals and launches, data presentations and publications.
