Manning Selvage & Lee Appoints New Managing Director for its China Operations
Manning Selvage & Lee (MS&L) today announced it has appointed John Hong as managing director of MS&L China. Hong replaces Fiona Cohen, who takes on the role of regional business development director for Asia Pacific, and will supervise the firm’s offices in Hong Kong and Singapore.
Hong was most recently a senior executive in Microsoft China's law and corporate affairs department. He is an expert in key policy issues influencing business in China, including intellectual property rights and government procurement. His deep expertise will provide MS&L's Chinese clients with enhanced capabilities in government affairs, community affairs, crisis management, internal communications and stakeholder engagement.
"John possesses that unique combination in China of hands-on PR expertise in the corporate, association and agency sectors," said Glenn Osaki, senior director, Asia Pacific. "His perspective in government affairs and corporate affairs is exactly what clients in China are looking for today."
As the MD of MS&L China, Hong will support many of the agency's key clients, including Philips, The Home Depot, Atos Origin and Heller Ehrman. He will also focus on driving new business growth in MS&L's Shanghai and Beijing offices.
Prior to his five years at Microsoft China, Hong was the chief representative for the Business Software Alliance in China, where he coordinated and worked closely with members of BSA to conduct policy advocacy and public education programs to enhance protection of intellectual property rights in China. Before that, he was a senior manager in the corporate and marketing practices of Burson-Marsteller in Beijing.
