Manning Selvage & Lee Adds Experts in Reputation Management and Corporate Social Responsibility to Growing North American Corporate Practice
Manning Selvage & Lee (MS&L) today announced it has added two senior communications professionals to its growing corporate practice in North America: David Chamberlin as senior vice president, based in Dallas, and Karyn Margolis as vice president for corporate social responsibility (CSR), based in New York. Both appointments are effective immediately.
The former general manager of Edelman’s Shanghai, China office, Chamberlin is an expert in national business and technology media relations, reputation management, cross-border counselling, and crisis and financial communications. At MS&L, he will be responsible for managing national programs for Huawei, Chase Paymentech and Entrust, three of the agency’s Dallas-based clients. He will also be responsible for generating new business and growth opportunities in the southwest market.
Margolis, a former press secretary for New York City Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney, has counseled companies such as Merck, Heinz, Kraft, AstraZeneca, Wyeth and AIG on the development of CSR programs. She will be responsible for developing CSR platforms, writing CSR reports and related communications materials, stakeholder engagement and media relations strategies, as well as overall program implementation. She will also serve as the New York office’s liaison to MS&L’s global ECO network.
“David and Karyn’s expertise in reputation management, international financial and technology communications, and corporate social responsibility will add tremendous value to our growing corporate practice, clients and staff,” said Peter Harris, senior vice president and director of MS&L’s NY corporate practice.
Chamberlin’s previous roles include general manager for Edelman’s 50-person Shanghai office, where he was responsible for the overall management of the agency’s staff and corporate, marketing, and healthcare practices; first vice president of external communications at JPMorgan Chase & Co., where he led public relations and partner communications for its credit card business; and director of global communications for Nortel Networks, where he developed and executed global communications strategies for corporate issues, product marketing, public affairs, investor relations and employee communications.
Margolis was most recently vice president of corporate social responsibility and issues management for Edelman’s New York office. There, she managed accounts involving CSR, issues and crisis communications, employee communications and reputation management. She was also responsible for developing CSR/sustainability reports for global corporations and conducting stakeholder analysis and engagement for corporations and NGOs. Her previous roles included corporate citizenship consultant for W.W. Grainger, Inc.; communications specialist for White & Case LLP in New York; and press secretary for U.S. Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney. She currently serves on the editorial board for the Journal of Integrated Communications, a peer-reviewed scholarly journal published by Northwestern University.
