Community

MS&L is committed to giving back to our hometown.  We actively seek to contribute to the fabric of Atlanta civic life - and to strengthen it by giving time, sharing expertise and having a passion for making a difference.  Giving back is an essential part of what we have always been: an engaged advocate for our city.

Our Home – Metro Atlanta and the State of Georgia
We opened our doors in Atlanta’s Merchandise Mart in 1964 as the city’s first national PR firm. We helped design Forward Atlanta, a comprehensive campaign to make Atlanta an international destination for business and tourism.

We’ve promoted and supported the growth and development of Atlanta and the State of Georgia ever since - working for the Georgia Department of Economic Development, the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, MARTA, Atlanta Public Schools, the Atlanta Braves, Emory University, Underground Atlanta, Stone Mountain Memorial Park, the Atlanta Committee for the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games and Atlanta’s Fortune 500 companies, including The Coca-Cola Company and The Home Depot.

The George E. Goodwin Community Grant
Created in 1998 to honor our office’s founder, George E. Goodwin, MS&L Atlanta selects one Metro Atlanta-based nonprofit every two years and provides $100,000 in pro bono public relations services.  Past recipients include the Samaritan House, The Center for Puppetry Arts, The Consumer Credit Counseling Service, The Southern Institute for Business and Professional Ethics and Special Olympics Georgia.

MS&L Agency-wide Commitment – Hands On Network
MS&L and the Atlanta office staff regularly contribute to the Hands On Network by volunteering throughout the community and rolling up our collective sleeves for Hands On Atlanta Days.

Personal Involvement
Our staff members serve on a variety of local and regional nonprofit boards and neighborhood organizations, lending insights to tackle issues from improving public education to preserving parks and enhancing the arts. Organizations include the Girl Scouts of Northwest Georgia, Georgia Alliance for Children, Safe America Foundation, The Jerusalem House, Planned Parenthood, United Way and BioSouth, just to name a few.

Our Work
We help civic-minded clients develop initiatives that give back to communities, including The Home Depot’s partnership with KaBOOM! to build 1,000 play spaces for children across the United States; ING’s Run for Something Better national program to fund and promote physical activity in middle schools; a statewide tree-planting program for the Georgia Forestry Commission, and many others.
