Philippe Cherel

Managing Director, MS&L France

Philippe Cherel re-launched MS&L France in October 2006. He has extensive experience in corporate communications, regulatory and legislative issues, media relations and brand promotion activities, accumulated over the past 20 years of working in public relations.

Cherel was formerly managing director of Edelman in Paris where he managed a variety of clients including Unilever, Pfizer, L'Oréal, AstraZeneca and the Tour de France. He started his career in public affairs and consulting for the pharmaceutical industry and later specialized in luxury brands, cosmetics, sports, automotive and transportation communications. He also spent some time in the technology and financial services industries, including mobile phones, insurance and recruitment agencies. His public affairs experience includes institutional and educational communications as well as issues management programs ranging from tobacco to social crises.

At MS&L, Cherel recently managed the launch of sanofi-aventis’ Acomplia and the new Pyrex Elegance range for Arc International in France.

He founded and created Pharmaceutiques magazine, today the leading pharma-business newspaper that targets major health decision-makers in France.

Cherel holds a BS in pharmacy from the University of Rennes. He is also a graduate of the Institut d’Administration des Entreprises in business management and a visiting lecturer in communications at the ISCOM (Paris).
