Aggregator/news reader: A Web site or desktop tool that helps users to read blog and other Web site content updates using RSS or atom feeds.
Examples: Technorati, Bloglines, NewsGator, Feedster, Blogdigger, DayPop
Atom: It allows a blog or news information, known as feeds, to become available for syndication. You can read Atom feeds of blogs using aggregators. See http://www.atomenabled.org/
Blog/Weblog: A Web site that promotes interaction using various tools such as comments and trackbacks. The blog contains commentaries, recommendations and links/references to other blogs. It also can provide links to news articles from other sites.
Blogger: A person who maintains a blog and regularly updates information on that blog.
Blogosphere: The world or community of blogs and bloggers.
Blogroll: A collection of links to other blogs, which is found on nearly all blogs. A blogger can create a blogroll as a list on the blog site or via an automatic link manager, or both.
Citizen Journalist/Citizen's Media: The essence of blogging. Written by the people, for the people. It creates a one-on-one conversation with a corporate blogger and the company's intended audience. It allows you to build new, personal, direct, credible, valued relationships.
Meme: Contagious ideas. Term is used to explain viral marketing. A blogger posts an idea on the blog and the idea spreads to other blogs.
Moblogging: Mobile blogging. Blogging using mobile devices such as PDAs, cell phones, camera phones, telephones and email. Blogs that are updated this way are called moblogs.
Permalink: The permanent link of a blog entry or post to enable easy referencing. It is often denoted with the symbol #.
Ping: A ping is a protocol that enables one computer or blog to send a message to another computer/blog. An acknowledgment is sent and received if the ping is successful. This is usually done with a blog is updated in order to inform other blogs and aggregators.
Podcasting: An audio file in MP3 format delivered online via RSS feed subscriptions. Podcast subscribers can listen at any time, which is the main attraction of this medium.
RSS: Really Simple Syndication or Rich Site Summary. RSS is a standard for publishing regular updates to web-based content. People use RSS reader applications or online RSS services to collect and monitor their favorite feeds in one place. RSS content from one source, viewed in one of these readers, is often called a "feed."

Trackback: It is a remote commenting system between blogs. This is used when an individual reads an entry in someone's blog and chooses to write about that entry in his or her own blog. When TrackBack is used, a ping will be sent to the originator of the post, so he or she will know who blogged about his or her blog entry.
